The Self Storage Association (SSA) is a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization formed in 1975 under Section 501-c-6 of the Internal Revenue Code. For more than 40 years the Association has served as the official trade organization and voice of the U.S. and international self storage industry.
In addition to its U.S. relationships, the SSA is affiliated with 9 international organizations representing another 12,000 self storage facilities worldwide.
The Self Storage Association (SSA) wanted to transition their in-person Certified Self Storage Manager (CSSM©) Certificate Program to an online version. Since this is a national certification, the association needed an online education platform that could provide flexible eCommerce functionality such as member and nonmember pricing and allow the SSA’s members to purchase individual courses as well as the entire certificate program. The platform also had to be easy to use in order to maximize the number of learners that could complete the program with little business interruption to the SSA staff.
The SSA required a vendor who could offer a fully managed service with course development and customer support for individuals taking the course. The entire certificate program consists of 15 sections, each requiring its own knowledge reinforcement quiz in addition to a final exam. Upon successful completion of the program, the association wanted the platform to automatically generate a certificate.
The Self Storage Association selected Vocalmeet’s continuing education platform to bring its CSSM© Certificate Program online. The association utilizes our flexible eCommerce module to offer both member and non-member pricing. Our eCommerce module also enables the association to offer individual sessions for purchase, in addition to the entire certificate program.
The SSA relies on Vocalmeet’s course development team to develop the online courses and to create the knowledge reinforcement quizzes for each section. In order for the learner to continue on to the next section, a 70% grade or higher is required. Our continuing education platform automatically grades the quiz and permits learners who meet the criteria to continue. Upon completion of the course, there is a final exam which comprises 100 test questions. Once the learner successfully completes the course, a certificate of completion is automatically issued.
The Self Storage Association is able to provide an extensive certification program by utilizing the Vocalmeet platform. The ability to offer member and non-member pricing, demonstrates the financial benefits of being a member of the SSA. The SSA is able to generate additional revenue by offering the individual sections of the CSSM© Certificate Program for sale.
